What is the EDS Faculty Portal?

The EDS Faculty Portal provides a simple search interface for faculty to identify content the library can purchase that can be provided free-of-charge to students in place of costly textbooks. This is the first-of-its-kind interface and several other states are interested in replicating the function of the LOUIS portal. We're adding newly-available titles each week on these platforms:

  • Cambridge UP Online
  • CRC Press
  • Elsevier ScienceDirect
  • Oxford Clinical Psychology Online
  • Oxford Medicine Online
  • Oxford Reference Online
  • Oxford UPSO Title-By-Title
  • Project MUSE
  • Wiley Online Library

EBSCO eBook Titles

For EBSCO eBook titles, we limited the new weekly titles to those available in the unlimited version, with titles dating back to 2010.

How Does the Faculty Portal Work?

When faculty search the portal, the results from the GOBI Catalog will include a link to purchase the item. Clicking on this link launches a form that will confirm which book they are requesting and ask for details about the request.

Who Gets the Request?

When submitted, an email will be generated that goes to the specified acquisitions librarian. This email will include faculty member contact information, book information, and a link to the GOBI platform for the title.

How Do I Order the Book?

The acquisitions process already in place at your library can be used to get the book, and then the faculty member should be notified that its available with a link to the purchased copy of the title for use in their course management system or elsewhere.
